Jim Bergmann is an HVAC Secondary and Adult Instructor at Cuyahoga Valley Career Center in Brecksville Ohio. He has grown up in the HVAC field, riding with his father from about the age of 6 on. Jim has been recognized as the News/ARI Instructor of the Year for 2004-2005, and was a runner-up his second year teaching.
Jim had the first PAHRA accredited secondary program in the nation. He has finished his third year as president of OCARE (Ohio Council for Heating Refrigeration Educators). Jim participated in writing and developing the Ohio Competency Analysis Profile for HVAC, and is a very accomplished educator. Jim is NATE (North American Trade Excellence) Service Sector certified in Air Conditioning, Gas Heating, Fuel Oil Heating, Air-to-Air Heat Pumps, Hydronics and Air Flow. He now participates on the NATE technical committee as a technical expert. In his free time he is a consultant for Testo as an HVAC/R Technical Specialist, teaching technicians across the country, and is a technical journalist for the for the HVAC News, Contracting Canada, HPAC Canada and RSES Journal.
Jim specializes in service and system commissioning. Jim has developed one of the top HVAC/R programs in the nation, and his students have achieved 100% related job placement within industry for the past 9 years. Jim resides in the Akron Ohio area with his two children and his caring, loving, understanding, patient, devoted wife who has developed a great tolerance for his love of education and HVAC.

Bill Spohn
Bill is an inventive business professional focusing his last 25 years on developing better products and solutions for the HVAC and weatherization industries, especially as they related to energy efficiency. He strives to educate technicians on the best choices and techniques in test and measurement to help them do a better job.
Bill is co-owner and General Manager at TruTech Tools. In the past he has worked at a number of industrial companies in marketing, management, product development and strategic planning, including 10 years each at Testo, Inc and Bacharach Inc.
He has served as an Instructor in an Engineering Technology program and continues to give many presentations each year at HVAC, RESNET and Affordable Comfort (ACI) and weatherization conferences. Bill has written for numerous trade publications in the US and Canada on diagnostic instrumentation for heating and air conditioning as well as Carbon Monoxide testing.
He currently serves on a number of committees including the BPI and RESNET Standards technical committees, as well as the ACCA Quality Installation Standard technical Committee and the California Energy Commission (CEC) HVAC Energy Efficiency Interim Steering Committee. Bill was Past-Chairman of the Gas Detection and Analysis Division of AHRI (formerly GAMA), and the Oil Heat Manufacturers’ Association.
He also holds three US patents for test instrument design, a BS and MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, is a Registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania and serves as an expert witness from time to time.
