Hap Haven – Newly inducted into the BPI Hall of Fame, Hap is a master educator in the home performance industry and the pioneer of the “home as a system” approach to home performance. He is founder and principal of U.S. Green Home and has been a national leader in the field of energy education for 30 years.

Jim Bergmann Recognized as The News/ARI Instructor of the Year, Jim is an award winning HVAC Instructor who specializes in service and system commissioning. He has had major influence on product developers and contractors via his consulting, training and technical writing. He is co-owner and Chief Technology Officer at TruTech Tools.

Buck Taylor – As a Principal at ROLTAY, Inc., Buck has designed and administered residential HVAC tune-up and retrofit programs for several utilities. He provides consulting and training in the application of advanced diagnostic tools used in total performance testing and commissioning of HVAC systems. Buck developed the powerful Get-Cool HVAC Analyzer and Manual S calculators. He also consults for the EPA HVAC, Massachusetts COOL SMART, CL&P/UI Residential Tune-up programs, and participates in NATE’s certification and ACCA/ANSI standard committees.

Eurihea Speciale – Principal at Building Efficiency Resources LLC,  Eurihea was elected to both RESNET and NEHERS Board of Directors, He is well known in the industry for his work as the HERS Manager and Quality Assurance Director at Southface Energy Institute.  His primary focus is on building performance, including high efficiency and green buildings.

Monday 7/11
Retrotec presents: Duct and Envelope (Blower Door) Training  (6
BPI CEUs)
Learn the principles behind Envelope (Blower Door) and Duct tightness testing. The training is divided into 3 main sections- Understanding the- Digital manometer (gauge), the fan (blower door) and the duct tightness tester. Training will focus on Retrotec products, including references to other brands. Attendees will come away with a solid understanding of how to operate the equipment in the context of their work.

Tuesday 7/12
Hands On with Blower Doors and Duct Testers   (3 BPI CEUs)
RETROTEC’s unique house and duct simulators and detailed training aids allow anyone from novice level to the most experienced to take away an enhanced understanding of pressure testing physics.

Train the Trainer on Blower Doors and Duct TestersFor Educators Only: (4 BPI CEUs)
FREE -Educators with experience in blower door and duct testing will gain new insight in how to convey the principles of pressure testing physics. The training is not specific to any particular manufacturer. Educators will receive access to free training materials that may immediately be put into use. This session is focused on breaking down the way blower door and duct testing is taught to allow students to understand the mechanics behind the application of the tools.

Kick Off The Cross Roads Conference (1.25 BPI CEUs)
The Crossroads: Where do we go from here? Insights from four major sectors: HVACR, BPI, RESNET and Utility based programs. Featured speakers include Jim Bergmann, Hap Haven, Eurihea Speciale,  and Buck Taylor.

Educational Seminars (BPI CEUs pending)
TruTech Tools’ industry and manufacturing partners present workshops on the application of diagnostic testing tools, equipment and procedures.

Thursday 7/14
Energy Savings thru A/C Tune Ups Presentation (3 BPI CEUs) & Hands On Lab (3 BPI CEUs)
Presented by Jim Bergmann and Buck Taylor
We will discuss energy savings and performance issues surrounding A/C and heat pump equipment.  Energy Auditors will learn simple means to evaluate system performance. Contractors will learn a process to thoroughly evaluate A/C systems to reduce cooling bills – contractors in utility based programs have used these methods to reduce consumption 30-40%.

    I cannot make it this year but would love to know what the dates are for next year. I am sure from the way it sounds you will see a next year! Please make sure I am on the list for furture events. (ones that have BPI credits)
